Hack into your phone through the charger?

Here are a few things I’ve been tracking this week to help protect you:

  • Researchers hacked into a smart phone through the charger this week: http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/03/tech/mobile/hack-iphone-charger/index.html?hpt=hp_t2  The lesson: don’t charge your phone using anyone else’s charger
  • Some nice reminders from the BBB on how to avoid identity theft during summer: http://www.bbb.org/blog/2013/06/10-tips-to-avoid-identity-theft-during-summer-travel/
  • Google is once again being ordered to turn over customer data: http://www.infowars.com/google-is-ordered-to-give-private-customer-data-to-the-fbi/  are you practicing safe Google searches per our privacy guide?
  • Google is no saint themselves, one of their new products might just identify you just by looking at you:http://www.eweek.com/cloud/google-glass-says-no-to-facial-recognition-at-least-for-now/

Keeping you abreast of all that’s happening in privacy and security here.  Stay tuned this weekend, I have some a great survival kit I think you’ll really enjoy.

Yours in privacy, Chris Peterson
